Onion Dome Cable Hat Pattern

Been meaning to update some of my Cable Hat patterns. Yesterday I posted the Cables - Bulky Pattern, which is a great hat for someone just learning cables. It is in Bulky yarn on large needles and quick to work up. When I was a kid my dad gave me a wooden box from Russia it had colorful Onion Domes burned onto the top of the lid. Years ago I used that as inspiration for a hat in Aran weight. I was looking at the box the other day and thought the pattern would be perfect for Bulky weight yarn....

Amazing Winter!

This winter has been absolutely the best. Lots of snow. It has been years since we have been able to get out on our XC skies as many days in a row as this winter. Plus we are finally having some of that brilliant winter sunshine, which brings out those magical blues. All the colors are crisp and clear. Today on our ski trip I picked up some balsam tips that had come off with the snow. The balsam scent is so much stronger when it is ice cold. Been busy making fingerless mittens. Traditional Danish Sweater

This the Nysted Sweater was worked in my hand dyed Merino/Cashmere/Nylon I used 4 skeins, and added an entire star motif to make it longer. The pattern was designed by a Danish Designer - Vivian Hoxbro. It is published in her new book: Traditional Danish Sweaters, published by  Trafalger Square. I worked mine from the Danish book.  The Traditional Danish Sweaters were actually called Night Sweaters (shirts). Sleeves are 3/4 length. I cannot wait for some cooler temperatures to wear mine.
