Leftover Cowl in Fine Fingering Weight Yarns.
Posted by Lis Barsuglia-Madsen on
I finally got the time to write down the Leftover Cowl Pattern. I always have a lot of leftovers. I try to keep them together in zip lock bags. So when I am ready they are all in one location. Well that is if I can remember where I put that particular yarn. I still need to improve my organization. The pattern is just a guide. There are as many versions as your imagination. You could make it all lace or slip stitches. I choose to have different colors for each end. It is like having 2 cowls in one. ...

Mittens with Cables
Posted by Lis Barsuglia-Madsen on
Well I guess it is that time of the year, when everyone are looking for those mittens. I had a custom order for mittens, but she liked my Fingerless with Cables. I figured someone else may want to make the same. I finally got around to write the pattern. It is pretty simple and could work well using other cables down the center back. I only had 12" left from the 1 skein I used. To be safe get 2 skeins. Unless you have a smaller hand. As always do not hesitate to let me know if you have any...
Multi Cables Ear Warmer or Cowl in Bulky weight yarn Pattern
Posted by Lis Barsuglia-Madsen on
I finally got around to working up our Multi Cables Ear Warmer for our SW Merino - BULKY yarns. It is 5" wide and works perfectly as a nice cozy Cowl too. I used US 11 (8 mm) and only 1 skein. But if you prefer a firmer version and use US 10 (6mm) you would need 2 skeins. Instructions for approx. 4" width are included in the instructions. It seems crazy working these bulky yarns at this time of the year. Swarms of mosquitoes were trying to eat me alive while taking the photos. It was snap and run. On the other...

Multi Cables Ear Warmer
Posted by Lis Barsuglia-Madsen on
I worked this ear warmer back in 2005 - or before. I decided to make some more, except I couldn't find my notes. 3 days later after multiple attempts I finally figured out what I did. This pattern is easy. You only work cables on 2 of the 8 rows. You can easily adjust the pattern to other weight yarns. Just adjust the needles and either add or delete 8 stitches. Remember patterns are guides - you are the ULTIMATE boss. Happy Knitting! Lis

Odin's Hue
Posted by Lis Barsuglia-Madsen on
Odin’s Hue* *Hue is Danish for Kep, Cap or Hat Odin’s 2 Raven - Memory & Thought and the Sun Wheel are century old Scandinavian motifs. I tried to make the crown “Feathery” in honor of the 2 Ravens. I choose colors instead of grey/charcoal for the “Feathers”. The Shetland Keps provided the inspiration for this “HUE”, love playing with colors. This is a win win combination, colors, using up my leftovers in the yak/silk/merino, creating a super soft warm hat. Figured there was room for a Scandinavian version, based on my Nordic heritage. These hats are great for using...
