Onion Dome Cable Hat Pattern

Posted by Lis Barsuglia-Madsen on

Been meaning to update some of my Cable Hat patterns. Yesterday I posted the Cables - Bulky Pattern, which is a great hat for someone just learning cables. It is in Bulky yarn on large needles and quick to work up.

When I was a kid my dad gave me a wooden box from Russia it had colorful Onion Domes burned onto the top of the lid. Years ago I used that as inspiration for a hat in Aran weight. I was looking at the box the other day and thought the pattern would be perfect for Bulky weight yarn. With the Onion Dome Cable covering each ear for extra warmth. Hence the updated version for the Onion Dome Cables - Bulky

2 skeins Bulky or 3 skeins is enough for 2 hats. US Size 7 & 11 knitting needles.

Finished size: 23-24" around head for the Onion Dome Cables Hat &

22-23" around head for the Cables - Bulky Hat

16" bottom ear/ear over crown of head for Version 1 - Tall

15" bottom ear/ear over crown of head for Version 2 - Average

14 1/2 bottom ear/ear over crown of head for Version 3 - Brim

As always feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

Happy Knitting!

Lis
