New Colors and LEFTOVERS!
Posted by Lis Barsuglia-Madsen on
Happy Spring! Well it depends which day. Today was Winter in the morning, Spring in the afternoon. Luckily my Snow Drops do not mind the snow. I just added a bunch of new colors to our Fine Merino Sport Collection. This particular yarn is SILKY SOFT. It is a FINE merino. US Size 4 needles. 24 sts = 4". Approximately 3.5 oz/ 380 yards. So the photo is of my LEFTOVERS from shawl knitting. I did a couple of Stephen West's Exploration Station this winter - I wanted a larger version, so added to the wedges. I did post photos...
Norrland in Blue Face Leicester Fingering
Posted by Lis Barsuglia-Madsen on
We are still in the midst of winter. Next week we may have a taste of Spring! I am having way too much fun working up the Norrland Hat Pattern by Sara Burch. I am knitting them in our BFL Fingering yarn. I am on hat #3 from the same 2 skeins in the same color combination. The sky is the limit on this one. I can see working it in Summer or Fall colors too... Happy Almost Spring! Lis

Amazing Winter!
Posted by Lis Barsuglia-Madsen on
This winter has been absolutely the best. Lots of snow. It has been years since we have been able to get out on our XC skies as many days in a row as this winter. Plus we are finally having some of that brilliant winter sunshine, which brings out those magical blues. All the colors are crisp and clear. Today on our ski trip I picked up some balsam tips that had come off with the snow. The balsam scent is so much stronger when it is ice cold. Been busy making fingerless mittens. They are very handy when bringing...

HAPPY FALL!
Posted by Lis Barsuglia-Madsen on
I guess we are all slowly facing the fact that summer is over and we are getting into HAT SEASON. Just finished another Cable Brim Hat in our Silk/Merino/Sea Cell yarn. This yarn is considered Worsted, but I use the same Cable Brim Hat Pattern as I use for our DK weight yarn. Been doing a lot of colors and figured a NATURAL one would be a nice change. If you decide to make this hat and purchase the yarn for it, make sure to scroll down to select the FREE option, as our patterns are free with the purchase...

Textured Hat
Posted by Lis Barsuglia-Madsen on
Been meaning to work up a textured hat pattern, finally got around to it. I started with the Merino DK Singles, as I have several "leftover" balls laying around. I love my leftovers. I get tired of working stranded work, so figured this would be something different and fun to do. The sky is the limit, the possibilities are infinite. This hat "hugs" your head comfortably. Plus it can easily be adjusted to multiple head sizes, but adjusting the rib height or changing needle sizes. As always feel free to let me know if you have any questions. Stay cool!...
