Pattern - Hat - Sheep Hat - EDEN - 2404
This Pattern is written for Hand Maiden's EDEN yarns. It comes with 2 sizes and 3 versions. Something for everyone....
This hat is amazingly soft. You are going to want to keep it on the entire winter. Eden is Fine Merino, Cashmere, and Nylon.
Gauge: 20 sts/4" & 6 rounds/1" worked in stockinette stitch on US Size 6 (4 mm) needles.
HAT SIZE:
Average: 20-22" (51-56 cm)around head & 16" (40 cm) bottom edge over crown of head to bottom edge covering the ears.
Large: 22-23 1/2" (51-56 cm) around head & 16" (40 cm) bottom edge over crown of head to bottom edge covering the ears.
3 VERSIONS:
BRIM, 2 COLOR RIB, & TRADITIONAL RIB.
Please note: 2 Color Rib tend to make for a tight fit. You may want to work the larger size, as the brim is about 1" tighter. So only 1 size is available for this version.
You have 3 cast on versions for the brim for the 2 Color Rib version.
You need: US Size 6 (4 mm) Double Pointed Needles for decreasing of the hat &
US Size 5 (3.75 mm) Circular Needles - 16" (40 cm) length &
US Size 6 (4 mm) Circular Needles - 24" (60 cm) length.
Do NOT use a shorter length while working the Sheep Design or your hat will be too small.
Marker.
2 skeins of Hand Maiden's EDEN yarns in 2 different colors.
NOTE: You would have enough for 4 sheep hats with the 1 skein you decide to use for the sheep design.
I did this design decades ago for a sweater. I lost the pattern and the motif. Took me almost a month to come up with what I believe is close to the original. I love the asymmetry. Looks like the sheep is standing outside in a field.
