Pattern - Hat - Acorn Hat - SW Merino - Bulky - 2002
Took forever to come up with this Acorn design. My Acorns kept looking like rotten apples. Sometimes the most simple things are the most time consuming ones.'
The Pattern is written for the SW Merino - BULKY yarn. Originally I wrote it for Icelandic Lopi Regular.
But you can use any BULKY Weight yarn as long as you get the gauge.
HAT SIZE: 22-23" around head & 15 1/2 - 16" bottom edge over crown of head to bottom edge covering the ears.
NOTE: You can change hat size: by either adding or decreasing sts between the Acorns.
Plus if you want it taller add rounds before you start the decreases. You want to keep the Acorns at the bottom as this will give you double layer by the ears, where you need the warmth the most.
You need: US Size 10 Double Pointed Needles and
US Size 7 Circular Needles - 16" length &
US Size 10 Circular Needles - 24" length
Do NOT use a shorter length or your hat will be too small.
Marker.
4 skeins of the SW Merino - BULKY in 4 different colors.
Pattern is for 4 colors: Background, Acorn is in Fawn, Cool Brown, and Raven for stem, but you could use totally different colors.
Pay attention to the variegated colors.
