ARAN or WORSTED  yarns.

Chest/Bust: 40-42” ONLY     

I used our own 2ply ROMNEY LAMBSWOOL & SUPERFINE BRUSHED KID MOHAIR & SILK - LACE         

Materials: 6 skeins 2ply Romney Lambswool - each skein approx. 3.5 oz/200 yards & 

2 skeins Superfine Brushed Kid & Silk - Lace - each skein approx. 3.5 oz/900 yards. 

I used approx. 1200 yards of each. 

NOTE: You could also use either Aran or Worsted weight yarns, as long as you get gauge for this size.

US Size 6 (4mm) & US Size 7 (4.5mm) DP (double pointed) Knitting Needles. 

NOTE: I use my flyers and then 2 x US Size 7 (4.5mm) 16” circular needles for the sleeves. 

I knit tighter when I work the sleeves. If you have the same issue you may wish to use US Size 8 (5mm) for the sleeves.

US Size 7 (4.5mm) Circular Knitting Needle - 24” length for the body & 16” length or 24” length for the collar, 36” & 40” for the yoke. NOTE: Use multiple circular needles, If you do not have the right length.

4 Stitch holders. Markers. Waste yarn.

Gauge:  Before & After wash (minimum change in size after wash): 

4 1/4 sts/1” & 6 rounds/1” on US Size 7 (4.5mm) Knitting Needle in stockinette. 

NOTE: Each 16 stitch Diamond on the body and sleeves is approximately 3 3/4”  wide & 3” tall.

Pattern: Instructions are for chest size 40-42” ONLY. 

I did NOT include short rows for this sweater.

Before & After wash: 17” sleeves, 24” Gansey length center front & center back, chest/bust size 42”, upper arms 16 1/2”, cuffs 8”, cast on edge to under arms 15”, under arm to collar 9”.

Gansey is seamless & worked top down, lambswool & kid/silk - lace are held together as if they were a single strand for the entire Tree of Life Gainsey.

You will need extra skeins, if you plan on increasing the size of this Gansey. 

Techniques: Cast On, Bind Off, Knit, Purl, Knit 2 together, Knit 2 together through back loops.
