Pattern - Shawl - The Pearl Shawlette- Sport/Fingering/DK - 2409
This Pattern is written for the Sport/Fingering or DK weight yarns.
Moss aka seed stitch is also called “Mother of Pearl” in Denmark or “Perlemor” in Danish!
The stitches do remind me of little pearls. I do love how it works for both neutral colors and variegated colors.
Hopefully this pattern will inspire you to have some fun. Would be great in those “leftovers” too.

Materials: 1 skein Fine Merino Sport - approx. 3.5 oz/380 yards/ea skein, or any Fingering or Sport weight yarns, or 2 skeins DK weight yarns with approx. 3.5 oz 218 yards/ea.
US Size 4 (3.5 mm) Circular Knitting Needles - I prefer Circular 24” or 32” length for the Fine Sport or Fingering weight yarns,or US Size 7 (4.5 mm) Circular Knitting Needles 24” or 32” length for the DK weight yarns.
Sport/Fingering: Gauge Before Wash: 6 sts/1” & 9 rows/1” in “pearl” stitch aka moss or seed stitch pattern.
Gauge After Wash: (Fine Merino Sport): 5 sts/1” & 8 rows/1” in pattern.
Shawlette Size Before Wash: 50” across top/11” down the center back.
Shawlette Size After Wash: 63” across top/12” down the center back.
Finished Sizes: Grows by approx. 26% along the top and 9% center down to the bottom tip when washed.
DK: Gauge Before Wash: 5 sts/1” & 8 rows/1” in pearl stitch aka moss or seed stitch pattern.
Gauge After Wash: (DK): 3.75 sts/1” & 5 rows/1” in pattern.
Shawlette Size Before Wash: 50” across top/12” down the center back.
Shawlette Size After Wash: 65” across top/17” down the center back.
Finished Sizes: Grows by approx. 25% along the top and 40% center down to the bottom tip when washed.
NOTE: Stitches will relax when you wash. Do not block the shawl, lay it flat on a towel to dry, otherwise it might end up HUGE!
You can wear The Pearl Shawlette many different ways, including turning the back a few inches to form a collar.
You can easily adjust this pattern to other yarns and needle sizes. Plus make it either longer or shorter. YOU are the boss! HAVE FUN!
