Pattern - Hat - Sheep Hat - SPORT - 2410

This Pattern is written for SPORT WEIGHT yarns. It comes with 2 sizes and 2 version. 

GAUGE BEFORE WASH: 24 sts/4" & 6 1/2 rounds/1" worked in stockinette stitch on US Size 4 (3.5 mm) needles. AFTER WASH: 23 sts/4" & 6 1/2 rounds/1".

HAT SIZE:

20-22" (51-56 cm)around head & 17" (43 cm) for Version 1 & 16" (40 cm) for version 2 bottom edge over crown of head to bottom edge covering the ears.

You need: US Size 4 (3.5 mm) Double Pointed Needles for decreasing of the hat &

US Size 3 (3.25 mm) Circular Needles - 16" (40 cm) length &

US Size 4 (3.5 mm) Circular Needles - 24" (60 cm) length.

Do NOT use a shorter length while working the colorwork or your hat will be too small. 

Marker.

Minimum 2 skeins of Sport weight yarns in 2 different colors. You could use leftovers for the design. I get 4 hats using the natural for the sheep and border design, plus 2 hats using the main color, very little for the designs above and below the sheep.

I used Fleece Artist'sHand Dyed  BFL Sport for these hats. This yarn is 100% BFL with 4.4oz (125g)/ 361 yards (330m). It is HAND WASH only

I did this design decades ago for a sweater. I lost the pattern and the motif. Took me almost a month to come up with what I believe is close to the original. I love the asymmetry. Looks like the sheep is standing outside in a field.
