Pattern 2206 - Hat - Onion Dome TWO - Bulky Hat
Inspired by a wooden box I got as a kid with colorful Onion Domes burned onto the top of the lid. I worked this pattern in Aran weight yarns years ago. Looking at the box I decided to update it for Bulky yarns for a super toasty winter hat, where you can place the cables over your ears for that extra warmth.
This version has extra cables and a brim, plus I decreased quicker. There are 2 versions. Point (sage) or no point (wines & teals) - just a matter as to where you work the final decrease.
2 skeins Bulky yarn. I used MWP - BULKY, Bartlett's Bulky works perfectly too.
Finished size: 23-24" around head & 16" bottom ear/ear over crown of head
2 1/2 - 2 3/4 sts/1" on size 11 (8mm) needles.
If you want your hat larger around your head, add 2 stitches, that'll add a little under an inch. Smaller, delete 2 stitches or change needle size.
You need: US Size 7 (4.5 mm) Circular Knitting Needles - 16" length, US Size 11 (8mm) Circular Knitting Needles - 16" length, and US Size 11 (8mm) DP Knitting Needles.
