Pattern - Hat - Vikinge Hue in Fingering - 2503

  • $5.00

"Vikinge Hue" is Danish for Viking Hat/Kep/Cap

Looks like my attempt at whales turned into dolphins... then there is the "Vikinge" ship - you may want to have the sail turned the other way, depending on the wind direction. Above the ship you have the Sun Wheel for good luck. Finally my attempt on a Star for the top.

This pattern is a suggestion you may want to create your own version.

This Pattern is written for any Fingering weight yarns as long as you get gauge.

US Size 1.5 (2.5 mm)  Circular Needles - 16" length, and  24" length, plus Double Pointed Needles 6" length for the decreases or flyers.

Marker.

I used 7 different colors of my leftovers in my Yak/Silk/Merino yarn..

Head Size: 21-22 1/2” circumference (around head), and 17” from bottom of ear over crown of head to bottom of other ear.

For a taller version increase rounds & for a shorter version decrease rounds.

For a smaller version (around head) use smaller needles. Larger version use larger needles.

This hue “hugs” your head comfortably.

Gauge in pattern BEFORE wash on US size 1.5 (2.5 mm) needles:  8.25 sts/1” & 10 rounds/1”.

Gauge in pattern AFTER wash on US size 1.5 (2.5 mm) needles:  8 sts/1” & 10 rounds/1”.

Vikinge Hue*

*Vikinge Hue is Danish for Viking Kep, Cap or Hat

The Shetland Keps provided the inspiration for this “HUE”, love playing with colors.

This is a win win combination, colors, using up my leftovers in the yak/silk/merino,

creating a super soft warm hat.

Figured there was room for a few Scandinavian versions, based on my Nordic heritage.

These hats are great for using up all those leftovers.

Plus they can tell a story or bring out favorite colors or favorite scenery.

Do not hesitate to play with your leftover colors to create your own version.

Remember patterns are only suggestions and not carved in rock.

Happy Knitting!
