Pattern - Hat - Traditional Ribbed Watchman/Woman Cap in DK or Worsted Weight - 681

This Pattern is written for Merino DK Single Ply yarn, and the Fine Organic Merino - Worsted, and the Silk/Merino/Seacell yarns.

BUT you can use any DK or Worsted weight yarns as long s you get close to the gauge.

You need: US Size 7 (4.5 mm) Double Pointed Needles & US Size 7 (4.5 mm) Circular Needle - 16" length.

Marker.

1 skein of the Merino DK Single Ply, or the Fine Organic Merino - Worsted, or the Silk/Merino/Seacell yarns or ANY DK or Worsted weight yarns as long as you get close to the gauge.

Gauge in Stockinette stitch on US Size 7 (4.5 mm) needles:

DK: 6 sts/1" & 7 rounds/1"

Worsted: 5 sts/1" & 6 1/2 rounds/1"

This hat is adjustable by moving the brim up or down all depending on where you need the double layer. There is a lot of give in this ribbed hat. It will fit a lot of different size heads - from 21"-23" around. If someone has a larger head you may want to work the hat to 10 or 11" before starting the decreases.
