Pattern - Hat - Celtic Cable Hat in DK - 2103

This Pattern is written for our Merino DK Single Ply yarn, but works for any DK weight yarn.

HAT SIZE:

Finished size before wash: 19-20” around - 15” bottom of ear over top of head to bottom of ear.

After wash: 21-22 around - 16” bottom of ear over top of head to bottom of other ear.

NOTE: The Cables will relax after wash.

NOTE: You can change hat size: by either using larger or smaller needles. Cable section is worked first and then joined via Kitchener stitch.

You pick up stitches along the top edge of the cable border, which will determine the circumference of the hat.

If you want it taller add rounds before you start the decreases, shorter work less rounds.

You can make this hat into a beret style by picking up extra stitches along the top edge of the cable border.

You need: US Size 6 (4 mm) Single Pointed Needles, US Size 6 (4 mm) Circular Knitting Needles - 16" length, and US Size 6 (4 mm) DP Knitting Needles. 

Cable Stitch Holder.

Waste yarn - approx. 1 yard.

Crochet Hook for "Provisional Cast On".

Tapestry Needle for Kitchener Stitch.
